It’s hard for anyone except close friends and family to imagine that after over 35 years of wondering why Kimberley had such a unique voice that she would finally find her true calling in voice acting. Kimberley’s voice didn’t really mature like other little girls in her elementary and middle school. It was clear in high school that something special was happening that would lead her on an interesting journey later in life. In fact, she’s had the same voice tone and quality since third grade. Her high school and college friends always found her voice cute and adorable; however, kids can sometimes be cruel and it made her very shy. She was nicknamed squeaky in high school and voted Cass Tech High School Class Timid because of her voice. She didn’t let the small voice stop her though. It was a wonderful life lesson to persevere through all of the teasing and finally gain the courage to pursue her dreams. From excelling in math and science and on to pursue a degree in Chemical Engineering and a Masters Degree in Business Administration, she has experienced great success and numerous accomplishments in business and academics. With the help of her husband, she was able to invest in a home studio which allows her to work on freelance opportunities as she continues to build her resume.
After doing some research on her own and asking lots of questions, she embarked on her voice acting career in 2003 and hasn’t looked back since. Without formal acting training, she knew that it would be a tough and competitive road; however, she felt drawn to give it 110%. She began her voice acting career in November 2003 under the direction of Kate McClanaghan at Sound Advice Studios/Big House Casting in
In April 2004, she had the opportunity to attend a voice over forum in Los Angeles, CA sponsored by Dave and Dave, Everything VO.com. There, on a voice actor/Casting agent panel, she met Terri Apple, Joe Bevilacqua, James Aulburger, Alan Barzman, Terry Berland, Harlan Hogan, and Nancy Cartwright, the voice of Bart Simpson. It was on this trip that she realized what it would take to succeed in voice acting. Three ideas have guided her career to date: a) practice and stay positive, b) train with and learn from the best, c) help others along the way. These ideas have guided her to complete numerous training classes with some of the best in Commercial voice acting and Animation. She’s trained with Glenn Haines, Rodney Saulsberry, Nick Omana, Terri Apple, Donna Grillo, and the awesome Delores Diehl. She values every experience as just another opportunity to improve her acting skills and ability to create characters.
She has done some small animation projects for independent organizations, public service announcements, video game work, ADR work for anime, and other children oriented projects.
That was just 5 years ago, but Kimberley’s talent continues to bloom, and the dream of her first major role in an animated series will soon become a reality.
